Non Surgical Lipoma Reduction & Removal

What is a Lipoma?

Lipomas are a collection of fat cells which come together to form a fatty lump under the skin. These lumps of fat are benign and non-cancerous.  In the majority of cases, they are not painful or harmful. Lipomas can form anywhere on the body. Lipoma removal is not uncommon but can require surgery, we offer an non surgical alternative.

At Jayèn, we use HIFU, a non-invasive, non-surgical technology that delivers focused ultrasound energy at selected depths beneath the skin. For suitable clients, we use a bespoke protocol intended to target the fatty tissue within a medically confirmed, small to medium-sized lipoma.

We are proud of the encouraging outcomes and high levels of satisfaction reported by clients treated at Jayèn. Many have experienced a noticeable reduction in the size and prominence of their lipomas, and clients have travelled to us from across the UK and overseas for this specialist treatment. Results vary between individuals.

Where removal is required, surgical excision is the conventional treatment. However, it involves an incision and may leave a scar. A significant proportion of the clients who approach Jayèn tell us that they have previously undergone surgery only for a lump to return or another lipoma to develop nearby. This reflects the experiences reported by our own clients and should not be interpreted as the expected outcome of lipoma surgery generally.

For suitable clients with medically confirmed lipomas, Jayèn has achieved significant non-surgical reductions using HIFU. Some clients have reported that the treated lipoma is no longer visible or detectable by touch, while others have experienced a substantial reduction in its size and prominence. These outcomes have resulted in high levels of client satisfaction, although individual results vary and complete removal cannot be guaranteed.

Although confirmed lipomas are usually harmless, they can sometimes be uncomfortable or cause cosmetic concern. By selecting different HIFU cartridge depths, we can create an individual treatment plan based on the position, approximate depth and size of the lipoma.

During treatment, focused ultrasound energy creates controlled heating within the targeted tissue. The aim is to affect the fatty tissue within the lipoma, after which the body gradually processes the treated tissue. Changes develop over time and are normally assessed over the following weeks and months.

Treatment times depend on the size, number and location of the lipomas. Sensations vary between clients and may include heat, tenderness or temporary discomfort. Some clients achieve a satisfactory reduction following one treatment, while others may require a further session. Where appropriate, a follow-up treatment may be considered after approximately six to eight months.

Do Check First

Jayèn Clinic does not diagnose lipomas. Before we can consider treatment, you must have the lump assessed by your GP or another appropriately qualified medical professional and confirmed as a lipoma.

Lipoma removal is generally considered a cosmetic procedure, so treatment may not be available through the NHS. Your GP can advise whether medical investigation or treatment is required before you arrange a consultation with Jayèn.
